We build a Heart-Wall to protect ourselves. To shield us from experiences we can’t handle and feelings we don’t want to feel. We build them to numb the pain or shock from a situation. From heartbreak, and grief. We don’t EVER want to feel that way again!
So, up goes the wall. Built like Fort Knox-solid, safe, secure, and protected. The big bad wolf is not going to blow this house down! Which is brilliant, right? Look at how self-reliant, self-preserving, and self-soothing we can be. We can rely on ourselves to get us through our tough times. Pretty remarkable. You are one tough, incredible bad ass!!
You see, the heart is our second brain. The heart sends messages to the brain. The heart is actually 60 times stronger than the brain. It is the most powerful organ in the body. The heart is the core of who we are. It has its own intelligence. It thinks, it feels, it remembers. It stores our memories and our feelings.
93% of people have a Heart-Wall. Heart-Walls form in layers, or rings, similar to an onion. These rings are layers of emotions surrounding the heart to provide a barrier, a protective shield.
What happens going forward, when we keep that Heart-Wall up?
You would think, all is well now, right? I will stay protected, and nothing can bother me. Unfortunately, that is not the case. The threat may be gone, but our Heart-Wall keeps that threat alive. We are not supposed to have Heart-Walls. It served its purpose at the time, but now it’s time to open our heart again.
Continuing to live with our Heart-Walls can;
- Keep us stuck in our comfort zones
- Cause us to self-sabotage
- Block us from living life to the fullest
- Numb us from happy feelings and positivity
- Causing us to feel disconnected: from ourselves, our higher power and purpose, God, and others
- Leaves us feeling isolated, detached, closed off and alone
- It can block our ability to give and receive love
- Physically, it can show up as neck, shoulder and chest pain, tension and discomfort
- Fatigue
- Respiratory issues
- Chronic issues
- Lower immunity
We think the struggle is normal. This is how I feel. This is the way it is. I’ll always feel this way. But it doesn’t have to be this way. It’s not supposed to be this way. It is our natural state, our Divine right to live fully, freely, and full of life, joy, and well-being. Once we release the Heart-Wall and live outside of that, amazing things can happen. Life is so much better when experienced with an open heart.
